Happy Anniversary, Mr. Harper

Yep, four years ago today, the hegemony of the Liberals came to an abrupt and inevitable end, and Stephen Harper became Prime Minister of Canada.

Although the Toronto Star contents itself with merely ranting about how citizens should try and stop him, the anniversary has been noted by the Globe and Mail and David Akin of CanWest.

I think I mentioned, in an earlier post, that this year would be a sea change in how Canadians perceive the Harper government, to wit: the voters expect Harper (and by extension, us) to defend his record, as opposed to merely bashing the Liberals. We’re already seeing this reflected both in more intense criticism in the MSM (remember, with Parliament prorogued, there’s more opportunity for this sort of mischief) and the resultant drop in poll numbers (which are always temporary — remember that Brian Mulroney spent his first mandate with lower poll numbers too).

So, looking on this anniversary, I’d like to remind everyone: if we truly believe that it’s in Canada’s best interests for the CPC to stay at the helm for another term, then we’d better make more of an effort to defend its record.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to PM Stephen Harper and for 4 solid years of sound, representative leadership!! This special 4th anniversary could be celebrated in a way previously unimaginable, if our Leader once again makes a “masterful chess manoeuvre” at such an opportune time. Mr. Harper, please NAME YOUR 5 SENATE APPOINTEES AT 1 P.M. TODAY….All the baseless arguments and protest rallies concerning an exact 17 DAYS’ BREAK (Jan.25-29, Feb. 1-5, 8-12, and March 1-2) comprising PM Harper’s SECOND PROROGATION (compared to sidewinder Chrétien’s FOUR and P.E.Trudeau’s TEN) will conflict with the new lead story, as well as the Haitian tragedy, and have the Lamestream Media running in Ignominious confusion.
