I Bet Iffy Couldn’t Sell Whizzo Butter, Either

Something interesting about my last political poll:

You know, something tells me I’m going to have to stop watching YouTube before doing these polls. I wonder how many people got this particular reference:

Thing is, though: this is a good measure of how far the Liberal Party has fallen. It’s getting so that if they actually do introduce a sound, coherent policy platform, nobody will pay attention to it because they’re waiting for the next trip-up. And that’s not really good for democracy in Canada: the Tories need a credible alternative to keep them from becoming smug, and therefore complacent.

A recent cartoon in the Metro dovetails with your observation; in it, Michael Ignatieff is shown beating a dead horse.

That’s what I’ve always believed. It’s up to the Libs to create a meaningful alternative to the current government, otherwise power manifests itself too much in swagger. It’s all too human. Resistance, however, provides for an isometrically political increase in strength. No pain, no gain, and complacency can indeed be the result of a dissipating Opposition. Integrity of representation becomes endangered. As for the Igneutered One beating a dead horse, that’s a sort of caucus carcass depiction of the LPC’s fate at hand.
