Libloggers Mad About The Iggy Process: The Second Batch

The Scott Ross:

Stephane Dion should not have been forced to resign. Michael Ignatieff and Bob Rae should never have been candidates for interim leader. The National Executive should never have allowed them to be. And throughout all of this, the Liberal caucus should not have selfishly thought of only what was best for them, but instead should have thought of what was best for the party.

In indirectly violating our right as members to select our leader, the Liberal National Executive and the Liberal caucus ignored the importance on which their very existence is predicated upon, the importance of us, Liberals.

Arnone & Co.:

We are in disarray. The past 48 hours have ended yet another bizarre chapter in the history of the Liberal Party of Canada. . . .

The photo op. Gerard and Rae. A well intended gesture meant to neutralize Leblanc’s move to Ignatieff perhaps? We may never know. But what we do know is that in making that move, Mr. Kennedy has secured himself a place in the “Backing The Wrong Horse Hall of Fame of Canada”.

Calgary Grit:

Does anyone out there think that having zero debates and no real substantive debate on the issues or the future of the party will wind up being a good thing for the long term health of the Liberal Party?

Savor these quotations, Blogging Tories. The more we remind people of how disappointed rank-and-file Liberals were about how Iggy got his promotion, the harder it will be for these same Liberals to promote the idea of an unelected coalition being a viable option.

I’ve got to say that I admire their candor. I just don’t know why they stick with their party.

Not even 3 years of service and he is supposed to be Prime Minister. Canada deserves much better than that.

  3. Michael Says:

I notice that you’ve omitted the libloggers that support Iggy.

Iggy went along with the coalition until the polls showed the move would be a disaster to the ‘Liberals’.

    ”Western alienation, who cares,
    separatists writing budgets, what ever.
Liberal support plummets…wholly disasters Batman, this has to stop!!”
Then he mounts his own coup.

Is this how he would lead the country? Party first, country second.

Perhaps because his love for Canada is only 3 years in the making,
all the little things like stealing the West’s voice and handing it to separatists don’t register on Iggy’s radar,
just another Liberal about to excercise his devine right to become Prime Minister.

Your ““Backing The Wrong Horse Hall of Fame of Canada” comment continues to hold true – he is backing the Liberals! Seriously, if we didn’t have ample evidence of the mindset of Liberals before, this entire process should convince everyone that power and control are the only two things Liberals truly care about. They will sell cabinet seats at will, back an obviously unqualified person (Dion) for PM when they don’t even trust him to lead their party; they push aside their memebrs because they are simply an inconvienience that would slow down their rush for the brass ring. Seriously – name one principal or core belief they have not pushed aside or thrown overboard in their quest to get back at the trough? If it was only the party members being disrespected or taken for granted I wouldn’t loose sleep – but it isn’t. They assume that all they have to do is keep shoving leader after leader at us and we will eventually cave in and vote them back in. STOP. Take a break – find out what you want to stand for besides power – Canada deserves better and Liberals simply are not up to the challange.
